Katherine May MacKenzie

On February 29, 2020, our beloved mother, Katherine May MacKenzie (73), died peacefully in Chelmsford MA after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on August 17, 1946, to her late parents, William and Katherine Taylor of Chelmsford, MA. In her last weeks, she was supported by her family and close friends. She was predeceased by her husband of over thirty years, Edward Wakeham, formerly of St Johnsbury VT. Mom was able to retire a little early from a long career at Intel Corp so she and Ed could travel. She truly loved road trips. They spent many of their retirement years living in Virginia Beach, where they loved so much, before returning to New England to be close to family. Mom was not only Ed’s loving partner but also his caregiver. Anyone that knew her knows that she was a loving, thoughtful, and generous person that would be the first to help anyone in need.

Mom was a strong woman, both physically and emotionally. You always knew where you stand because she wasn’t shy about letting you know what she thought.
Mom is survived by her sister Linda LaPorte and her husband Robert LaPorte of Chelmsford MA, her brother William Taylor and his wife Donna Taylor of Deltona FL, her son John MacKenzie and his wife Karen MacKenzie of Goffstown NH, her son Dana MacKenzie of Nashua NH, her three granddaughters who she would give the world for, Jasmine, Shealin, and Kylee, her nieces Kim and Lisa, her nephew Lee, a large extended family and many friends.

Whether you knew her as Mom, Grammie, Aunt Kathie, or Kathie, you know she will be remembered fondly by all.

As she wished, there will not be any public services for mom.
