Carol Ann Johnson (1945-2024)
Carol Ann Johnson was born in Little Falls, New York on January 7, 1945. She died on November 8, 2024. She was the 2nd of four daughters born to Wilhelm and Elfrieda (Nielsen) Johnson. Carol shared her childhood home with her pet monkey, Martha –one of those teacup monkeys that came through the mail. Carol went to Little Falls High School and graduated with the class of 1962. Carol lived in Little Falls until she left for Genesee Community College where she received an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 1966. From there she moved to Rochester and was the first female Security Guard at Rochester Products, a huge facility that she often got lost in. Carol and her then partner, Jane, left Rochester in 1975 to make their fortune betting on horses. They came back to Little Falls a year later on a $200 loan from Carol’s mother. From there, Carol and Jane moved to the Boston Area in 1976. Carol held many technology jobs, finally matching her skills and her natural gifts with people to Customer Provisioning at Verizon. Carol and Judy met in 1995 (at church!) and became life partners in 1996. They got married at the First Congregational Church in Winchester in 2005. They lived together at Carol’s house in Reading from 2000 to 2021. They loved to travel and found enormous peace in a little village in Cornwall. In 2003, they welcomed Autumn as a foster child and she returned to them permanently in 2011. Autumn was the delight of Carol’s life. Recently, Carol and Judy moved to an apartment, still in Reading. It was Carol’s dream – no shoveling, no raking, no stairs, and close to friends. Carol was a loving and open person and animals were no exception. Their companion animals were Tara (Irish Setter); Dagmar (Greyhound), Rachel (Cocker Spaniel), Lucy, (Greyhound), Sloane (Cocker Spaniel), Charlie (Cocker Spaniel) and Autumn’s dog, Star (mixed breed). Their cats were Alex, Sadie, Bean Man, Gladys (with Autumn), and Esther. She is survived by an army of friends as well as family: Her wife, Judy Arnold; her daughter, Autumn Lyn Hendrickson; her sisters Donna Lerminiaux, Louella Johnson and Janet (Charlie) Quatrino; her nephews Danny (Krista) Beacraft and Zack Lerminiaux; and her niece Carrie (Brice) Nelson. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. Memorial Gifts may be given in her name to Doctors Without Borders. Her memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Winchester on Saturday, November 16, at 1:00 p.m.

I am so sorry to hear about her passing. She brought a smile to my face everyday that I saw her at my work. Her home . We would always have small talk about family friends and of course pets. Even if I got called to work at the apartment building she lived in after hours and I bumped into her she would still make my day. Rest in peace my friend. I’ll miss you
