Carol Ann Zirpolo (Meagher) 1939-2024
Carol Ann Zirpolo (Meagher), aged 84, passed away on July 2, 2024, in Winchester, MA. Born on December 31, 1939, in Waltham, MA, she was a spirited and unique individual who embraced life with fervor and determination.
Carol graduated from Somerville High School and carried the lessons learned into all aspects of her life. Known to call herself “Gasoline-ass Annie,” she loved driving with the radio turned up, exploring the world on her terms. Carol’s resilience and warmth drew people to her, making her a beloved figure within her community.
Her devotion to family was unparalleled. She was a loving mother to her daughter Robyn McDermott and a guiding force to her son-in-law, James McDermott, and granddaughter, Juliann McDermott. Carol treated her daughter’s friends as her own, earning her a special place in many hearts. Her role as a mother and grandmother was cherished, and her support and love left a lasting impact.
Carol is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who felt her love and guidance. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna (Ennis) and Ralph Meagher, and her sister, Barbara Freeborn.
Carol’s legacy of strength, love, and independence will continue to inspire those who knew her. She is deeply missed and will always be remembered for the lives she touched and the love she shared.

Robin and I grew up together her mom was so funny and witty.Yet, don’t get on her bad side, either, everyone loved Carol if you wanted her opinion, she would be sure to give it . She was a lovely person. May she rest in peace. Thanks for the lovely memories, Carol.
