Charles Malcolm Maag

Charles Malcolm Maag (Charlie), age 87, of Saugus, passed away peacefully at his home. Born in Lynn, Mass., he was the son of the late Charles William and Evelyn (Hadley) Maag and the brother of the late Doris Macedo.

Charles lived in Saugus most of his life. For three decades, he worked as a tool and die machinist at Strager Company in Revere. Throughout his retirement, he was an avid golfer, loved football, baseball and puzzles and enjoyed building WWI and WWII model fighter planes.

He leaves behind his nephew Michael Macedo and his nieces Donna Gagnon and her husband David, Nancy Winch and her husband Seth, and Susan Macedo. Charles was a loving great uncle to Dan, Gabrielle, Matt, Lee, Jake, Danny, Allie and Caraline and a great-great uncle of ten. He was the uncle of the late John Macedo.

Charles is also survived by his step-children, John Mazzone, JoAnn Marquis and her husband Michael, LuAnn Madden and Michael Mazzone. He was the loving ‘Grampy’ to Maria and James along with many more. He was pre-deceased by Joanne Mazzone, Jimmy Mazzone and Michael Fabrizio.

In addition, he leaves behind his cousin, Dick Maag and, his very good friends, Matt Kennedy, Richard Flavin and his golfing buddies at Reedy Meadow Golf Course. Charlie will be missed and surely remembered for his sense of humor.

We would like to thank the Hallmark Health Medical Associates and Hallmark Health Hospice for their caring efforts and support.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, January 7 from 4-6PM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 8 Prospect Street, Saugus, MA. Donations in his memory may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
