Connie Radcliffe
Connie Radcliffe, 93, of Westford, MA, died peacefully at her daughter’s home in Marlborough, MA. She was married to the late Frederick Roberts Radcliffe for 57 years. Connie was born in Campobasso, Italy. She was the daughter of John and Rose (Palladino) Iamurri who all emigrated to the United States in 1933, through Ellis Island. She, her sister Mary and parents settled in Schenectady, NY. She graduated from business college there and went to work at General Electric where she met her husband Fred. They married in 1950 and had 2 children, Marc and Lisa before moving to Titusville, Florida, to be a part of the Apollo Space program at Cape Canaveral. There they had two more children Jill and Amy. She was a member of the Titusville Garden Club and enjoyed having fruit trees in her yard, along with cactuses, hibiscus, gardenias, roses and her beautiful rain tree. She was content with the simple things in life and was very frugal having grown up on a walnut farm in Italy and lived through the depression here in the US. In 1971, she moved with her family to Patriot Lane in Westford, MA. In Westford, she started new gardens, loved wildflowers especially Delphiniums and built a stone wall around their property with the granite she dug out of the garden beds; she lived there for 40 years. She was very fond of all her neighbors and wonderful friends. She loved having her children’s friends over for her fabulous Italian meals. She led a life with unconditional love for family and friends, kindness to all and an exceptional ability for advice, cooking, gardening, sewing and many other talents. These last couple of years, we have been very thankful for her wonderful caregivers Leah and Tina for their companionship and kind care.
She is survived by her son Marc Radcliffe & his wife Cathy Connelly of Newport, MN, and three daughters, Lisa Radcliffe of Marlborough, MA, Jill & Don Byrd of Oceanside, CA, and Amy & Geoff Schembechler of Dunstable, MA. She was loved by her grandchildren Ryan Schembechler, Kyle Schembechler & his wife Kelsey Kornblut, Sean Radcliffe & her partner Benjamin Thompson, Kendra & Garrett Harrington, and Nicholas, Palmer & Alana Byrd. She is also survived by her sister Mary Carbone & her partner Buck Gabelman, of Madison, WI, and Mary’s children David, Kathy, Bobbi, Paul, Marybeth, Matt & their families. She was predeceased by Mary’s husband, Paul Carbone & their daughter Kim.
