Cordia Kearns
Cordia Kearns, 66 of Medford, MA passed away on Saturday, June 26th after a short battle with cancer. Corky (as friends and family knew to call her if they wanted a response) was the beloved mother of Jennifer Trukas, Adam Trukas and Stephanie Avery. We write this together in tribute to our Mom, whom we adore.
Our Mom had a deep love for music of ALL kinds, and she was always up for attending a concert or musical. Throughout the years we have been to many as a family, including our most recent concert, Queen. Mom was singing and dancing with the best of them, which is a memory we will all cherish forever.
Mom also loved some of the slower aspects of life, like a good thunderstorm (the angels are bowling), enjoying a Janet Evanovich book on her commute to work, snuggling up on the couch watching Christmas movies, the Olympics (winter and summer), and her soap Days of our Lives.
We also have many fond memories together at Fenway Park. Corky was part of the Fenway faithful, and loved the Red Sox whether they were winning or losing. It was a love she shared with her three grandkids, Chloe, Jack and Harrison as well. When Mom wasn’t teaching the kids a Red Sox cheer she was bonding with them over their shared love of sweets. Corky had a sweet tooth that couldn’t be matched – a trait that the grandkids certainly benefitted from!
Most importantly, however, Corky was a wonderful mother who worked hard to make sure her children had everything they wanted and needed. She was a loving sister and friend, and the absolute BEST Nana/Nanny in the world! She is already missed so much. We are looking forward to celebrating her life with you all on her 67th birthday, Friday, August 13th. Details to be provided at a later date.
Corky never took herself too seriously. She knew how to laugh and have a good time, so in lieu of flowers we instead ask that you grab a six-pack of Michelob Ultra and raise one up for our Mom. Or, you could download a song and dance in your kitchen, she would love that.
