Debra Irene (Urbaczewski) Murphy
Debra Irene (Urbaczewski) Murphy of Revere, formerly of East Boston and Chelsea, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, in the comfort of her home after a hard-fought and courageous battle with cancer. She was 63 years old.
Debbie was the beloved daughter of the late Shirley (Baden) and Walter Urbaczewski of Chelsea. She was the devoted sister of Jack Urbaczewski and his wife Patty, and Maxine Urbaczewski. She was predeceased by her sister Linda Chipman. Debbie was the loving wife of Kevin Murphy for 35 years and the cherished mother of Christine DiFiore and her husband Nicholas, Kayla Scouler and her husband Daniel, and Kevin Murphy and his partner Samantha Gibbons. Her love for her children was only surpassed by her devotion to her eight adored grandchildren: Anthony, Dominic, Anna, William, Evelyn, Aleena, Aylanee, and Kevin Jr. She was also dearly loved by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Debbie’s warmth, kindness, and selflessness defined her life. For more than 30 years, she was a treasured leader of the Dockside Restaurants team, where she left an indelible mark. As a waitress, guests would wait just to sit at her tables, drawn by her welcoming presence, quick wit, and ability to make everyone feel special. As a manager, she traveled between locations and was always greeted by familiar faces eager to catch up. Debbie not only remembered names but also knew the details of her guests’ lives, creating lasting connections and turning many guests into extended family. She made the Dockside a home away from home for so many.
Debbie didn’t just manage Dockside’s fundraisers and events—she was their heart and soul. Each sports team, foundation, or school she worked with was met with her unwavering dedication and a commitment to make every fundraiser as impactful as possible. Over the years, Debbie helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for countless community initiatives, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those she touched. Her genuine care for her employees and guests went far beyond her role, creating a lasting legacy of kindness and connection that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at Boston Cremation, 287 Main Street, Malden, MA 02148, on Wednesday, December 18th from 10am-12pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Debbie’s name to Neurofibromatosis Northeast, 9 Bedford Street, Burlington, MA 01803, or online at www.nfnortheast.org/donate-to-nf.
