Delores E. Carlson

October 1928 – May 2021

RUTLAND/GARDNER: Delores E. Carlson, 92, of Timpany Boulevard, Gardner and formerly a 27 year resident of Rutland passed away after a beautiful life on Thursday, May 20, 2021. She was at home as she wanted to be with her youngest son Kenneth Carlson who devoted the last few years to being her caregiver. She leaves behind two sons: David A. Carlson and his wife Deborah Stanley of Rutland and Kenneth W. Carlson of Gardner; four daughters: Simone Chmielewski and her husband Jim of Missouri, Teresa Belton and her husband Paul of Worcester, Karen Barber and her husband Duane of Rutland and Kristin Carlson and her husband Denis of Quebec, Canada; 8 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Norman I. Carlson and her son Gary Dupuis.

Delores was born in Framingham, MA as an only child to the late Ethel and Daniel McKay. She completed her education in Worcester and went to work at Astra Pharmaceuticals where she met the love of her life. After working at Astra she moved on to work and run Worcester Dental for many years. In her retirement she could not stay still so she became the “Golden Voice” of the Gardner Walmart and was beloved by all the staff and patrons. In her free time she enjoyed being at her home in Gardner with her cats Nicholas and Neville admiring the many gardens on her property. She enjoyed visits from her family and was always the one to create laughs at family dinners. Delores will be greatly missed by all family and friends especially without “The Dolly Hotline.” On her final journey she will be reunited with her husband Norman likely in the olive tree lined fields of Tuscany, where she and Norman visited.

Private services for family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Delores’ memory to: The Gardner Animal Shelter, 899 W. Broadway, Gardner, MA 01440 or the charity of your choice.
