Donald (Don) Wright Gorman


Donald (Don) Wright Gorman of Marblehead, MA, died on April 29, 2013 at the age of 80, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA. He graduated Marblehead High School and matriculated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Don then served in the Air Force (pilot) before starting his lifetime career in the Rubber Industry. Before retiring from RT Vanderbilt (Norwalk, CT) in 1998, he was Chairman of the American Chemical Society Rubber Division. Don was an avid sailor and had a passion for being on the water. After retiring to Florida, he became very active in his church, 2nd Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Corinne and parents Harold and Dorothy Gorman. He is survived by his four children, Rick, Rob and Dave Gorman and Beth Rudnic (Ed), six grandchildren Betsey Friedman (Elliot), Rob Gorman Jr., Meggie Williamson (Derek), Megan Gorman, Kelly Gorman and Daniel Gorman and first wife, Nancy Tietjen. A memorial service will be held at Old North Congregational Church, Marblehead, MA on May 25, 2013 at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow n the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
