Donald J. Scutiere
Donald J. Scutiere, formerly of Boxford and Topsfield, passed away peacefully at Kaplan House on March 21, 2014, surrounded by the love and support of his family. Don was the loving husband of Joyce (Thomas) Scutiere, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. He was the son of the late Mayo and May (Fitzgerald) Scutiere, and the devoted father of Atty. Jeffrey Scutiere and his wife, Jennifer, of Hamilton, and Tyler Burke, and her husband, Tom, of Hamilton; grandfather of Trevor Burke, Shannon Burke, Jay, Devon, and Lauren Scutiere. He was born in Lynn, and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Boston University and Suffolk University Law School. At the closing of World War II, he left high school to serve in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. PCS 1378. Don practiced law in Peabody and Salem for over 50 years and was very active in Boxford town affairs, having served as its Town Counsel for 18 years. He also served as a member of the Water Committee, Zoning Board of Appeals, Finance Committee, and the Capital Budgeting Committee. He also was on the Troop Committee for the Boy Scouts and a Little League coach. While practicing law in Peabody, Don was a corporator of the former Warren Five Cents Savings Bank, and active in the Peabody Lions Club. Later, his practice was in Salem, until his retirement.
