Edward Reid

Edward T. (Pizon) Reid of Malden, Massachusetts and formerly of Charlestown, died peacefully, surrounded by loving family members on Friday, February 28, 2019. He was 57.

Born in Boston, he was raised in Jamaica Plain and Charlestown. He was the son of the late Arthur and Tillie (Comeau) Reid and attended local schools.

Eddie started his professional working career as an Iron Worker. Over time he was able to adapt his work ethic and skill sets and shifted his energy to performing work in the areas of home repair, painting and demolition work for new construction. He had a strong work ethic. This work ethic came from his oldest two brothers Arthur and Thomas, who instilled in him the merits of hard work.

Despite his tough guy image, Eddie had a compassionate spot for animals, especially his dog, Kaineo and cat Simba. Eddie loved taking Kaineo for long walks in the park, no matter what the weather looked like, rain or shine.

Edward had a long (28yrs) loving relationship with his beloved companion Rachel Degenova.
In addition, he served as a stepfather to Anthony Degenova, who he loved very much.

He was the brother of Thomas Reid and his wife Cathy of Weymouth, Suzanne Mullen of Rochester, New Hampshire, Sandra Ortiz and her husband Raymond, Michael Reid and his wife Kathleen, all of Charlestown. The late Margaret Arroyo, Arthur Reid Jr, Linda Alvarado and Susan Durgin. Brother in law to Dennis Durgin of Litchfield, New Hampshire.
He leaves behind his dear friend Michael Wheeler.

Eddie leaves behind a loving daughter, Jennifer Connelly and two grandchildren, Michael and Oliva.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his services on Tuesday, March 10th from 9-11 AM at Boston Cremation, 287 Main Street, Malden, MA 02148.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edward’s name may be sent to the local ASPCA

To the man who taught me family is everything (especially when I didn’t want to hear a lecture!) and that even through tough times your expected to stay strong even if that strength means removing yourself from people and or situations to protect them and yourself. Thank you for constantly telling me how much you love my mother and reminding me that your her brother and your allowed to protect her esp when I was being a brat. Here’s to not having to fight the fight anymore (even though you killed it everyday regardless )
