Elena was the owner and operator of a successful embroidery business before she retired. Many of the area schools depended on her to provide handmade monograms and logos for jackets, shirts or any material that needed an artistic touch. There were times when other local business owners called ‘Ellie’ to rush a special order because she was dedicated to getting the details just right.

Elena loved to travel and had a curious spirit. Her fondest memories were of visits she took with her sisters and brothers when seeing places like California, Nevada, Oregon, Italy, and France. She also loved gambling which included playing the lottery, scratching multiple tickets, and going to casinos to play the slots.

The part of life that Elena enjoyed most was being with family and friends. She relished get togethers for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or whenever there was a reason for celebration. She especially loved cooking which meant bringing homemade Italian specialties like escarole manast and anise pizzelles to brighten the festivities.

She is survived by her sister, Theresa Gabbard and her brother-in-law, Ted of OR, her daughters, Tina Bowe of NH and Danielle Jones of VA, her grandchildren, Christine Bowe of MA, Kelsey Bowe of MA, and Joshua Jones of VA. She was a loving aunt to many other nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Melrose Wakefield Hospital and the Massachusetts General Hospital for their loving care.

A private family service will be held at the Holy Cross Mausoleum in Malden at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elena’s name to a charity of your choice.

Elena Christine led a long and blessed life, and she will always be remembered by those she loved and who loved her.

The Family is planning a celebration of her life in May.
