Ernel “Ernie” D. Perry

Ernel D. Perry (“Ernie”) of Dorchester passed peacefully on October 30, 2016. Born in Jamaica, Ernie worked through a series of jobs in his home country and England to save enough money to achieve his life long dream of moving to the United States to further his education and raise a family. Armed only with a ready smile and a tireless work ethic, Ernie commenced his journey to America in his mid-twenties and quickly found employment at Savings Bank Life Insurance (“SBLI”). For almost forty-four years, Ernie dedicated himself to helping SBLI achieve Louis Brandeis’ mission of providing affordable and trustworthy life insurance. In October of 2010, Ernie retired as a Vice President with the company. In typical Ernie style, humble and unassuming, he refused to let his peers hold a retirement party to celebrate his career for fear of being a distraction to the great work that still was at hand. Ernie valued education, accountability, and self-determination and dreamed of generations of his family having a more certain path as a result of his sacrifices.

Ernie was preceded in death by his wife Winsome Perry and is survived by his sons Patrick (wife Pamela) and Steven (wife Sharisse) and the true joys of his life, his three grandchildren, Parker, Sophia, and Summer.

According to his wishes, there will be no services.

    Rest in Peace my LOVE.
For the 27 years that you were in mi life you were always there for me. As the great person that you were you taught me a lot about life. From now on every day I wake up you will be there with me as you did for 27 years. My family will miss you as well for ever. You meant everything to us. Many times I asked him “Ernie how am I going to live without you” and he just looked at me and said nothing. I know he will be watching over us from heaven.
I will hold on to the good memories we had together. He knew he was loved by myself, my family and my friends. There wasn’t one day that I didn’t say to him “Ernie I love you” He look at me and gave a beautiful smile. It was a way of saying to me “I love you too”.

    LOVE YOU

    Love

Ernie my love I miss you more and more everyday. My life is not the same without you. I do not hear the door open anymore and me asking “Ernie is that you”? I will always remember the last time I saw you. You were wearing a blue stripe shirt, blue jeans and a cap. The little that I knew that it was going to be the last time I saw you. I will forever have you in my heart and I will always love you. It hasn’t been easy for me but I know that you are watching over me. I had a dream in which I had to tell you to go and rest in peace because I was going to be fine. Well I lied i am not fine. My heart goes out to you and I asked myself why, why you have to leave me so soon. There are times when all I do is cry when I think about the little things that made you happy. We had a good life together. I loved you and you loved me. We made each other happy for many years.
