Eugene F. “Satch” Cavanaugh, of North Weymouth, died peacefully, July 21, 2014, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Born May 27, 1939 to the late Thomas and Charlotte Cava-naugh. Husband of the late Susan (Hannon) Cavanaugh. He is survived by his three children: Cheryl, wife of the late Wayne Mahannah Jr. and their children Sarah and Nicholas of Weymouth; Michael Cavanaugh Sr. and his wife Nancy of Braintree and their children Amy and Michael Jr.; and Robert Cavanaugh and his wife Jen Pfaff of Chicago, IL and their daughter Parker. Eugene also leaves his brother, Thomas Cavanaugh and his family of NH and his sister, Lucille MacKinnon, wife of the late Paul MacKinnon of Billerica. Eugene was a civil engineer. He worked in the Dept. of Waterways for the Commonwealth of Mass. for 25 years and retired as the Director of Waterways in 1999. He was a loyal member of the Knights of Columbus. He was known as a ‘gentle giant’ and will be dearly missed . A funeral Mass will be held on August 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Jerome’s Church, on Bridge St., North Weymouth.
