Florence “Sis” Hobbs (Blake)


Florence “Sis” Hobbs (Blake), aged 79, passed away on December 9, 2024, in Wilmington, Massachusetts. Born on February 19, 1945, in Boston, MA, she was a cherished member of the Wilmington community and a devout attendee of the Abundant Life Church.

Florence, affectionately known as Sis, dedicated over 50 years to her church community, embodying the virtues of generosity, love, and patience. She pursued her passion for arts and crafts, often drawing and baking with her grandchildren. Her early dreams of becoming an art teacher were reflected in her active participation in the preschool Sunday school and her love for crafting.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Hobbs; children John Hobbs (Peggy), Lori MacDonald, Denise Rosenthal (David), and Keith Hobbs (Cheryl Fay); grandchildren Tyler, Rachel (Brendan), Jacob, Courtney, and Peyton; siblings Eddie Blake (Roberta), Ronnie Blake (Patti), Lily Miller, Karen Grafton, and Judy Frias (Mario); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. Florence was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Hazel Blake; brothers Arthur and Perce Blake; Helen Allen; and her son-in-law, John MacDonald.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Abundant Life Church, 173 Church Street, Wilmington, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests individuals to honor Sis’ memory through random acts of kindness or donations to the Abundant Life Church at the same address.

    Sincerely sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful, kind person. I haven’t seen her in awhile but Diane speaks of her often and loved very much. All of you take care of one another at this time of need and our deepest condolences are with the whole family . Sincerely John & Linda Mytych.
