James B. Reilly
Fitchburg, Mass. – On Monday, September 2, 2024, James B. Reilly, 62 years old,
Jamie, as he was known by family, and “Iggy” to some – passed away peacefully with
loving family by his side, after a brief illness.
Jamie was born in Groton, Mass. and lived his earliest years in Pepperell. He was a
well-known sight on his bike around Fitchburg, his most recent residence, as well as
Lunenburg, where he resided for most of his life. He graduated from Lunenburg High
School.
He was employed by Maki Building Centers for many years in Lunenburg and Gardner,
and was a very hard worker. He also worked in a Printing shop and loved his job.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Cooper, also of Fitchburg; his sister, Debra Reilly
and husband, James Moore, of Lovell, Maine; his older brother, Steven Reilly and wife,
Marylise Reilly; and brother, Paul Reilly and wife Vicki Reilly of Ashland, Ohio. He also
leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, uncle Philip
Richard of Fitchburg, aunt Yvette (Richard) Damien of Houston, TX. He was pre-
deceased by his parents Donald W. Reilly and Lucille (Richard) Reilly.
Jamie led his life “marching to the beat of a different drummer,” with his own unique
struggles, but was always there to lend a hand to anyone – friend and stranger alike. He
will always be remembered as a kind and generous soul, and will be greatly missed by
all who knew him.
James (Jamie) found respect, friendship, guidance and support with his pastor John
Neilon from Fitchburg, who helped him find peace through faith in Jesus his savior.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 19m at St Bernard Cemetery in
Fitchburg and will be posted on Facebook. A Go Fund Me has been set up to help the
family defray end of life expenses. Burial will be private.
