James Callachan
James “Jim,” “Jimbo” Callachan of Medfield passed away peacefully on March 21, 2021
after a long battle with Dementia, at the Medway Country Manor. He was 86.
James was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Callachan, brother to the late
Robert Callachan Jr., Greta Clark, Maryanne (Mimi) Corcoran and William Callachan.
James was the beloved husband to Nancy (Verrochi) Callachan for almost 60 years.
He was the loving father to Michele (Callachan) Sullivan and her husband Daniel
Sullivan of Plainville, Nancy (Callachan) Morse and her husband Dean Morse of
Mansfield and James M. Callachan Jr. of Millis. He was a special grandfather “Poppy”
to Jessica (Morse) Berman, Alexandra Morse, Hannah and Dean Morse Jr., James and
Shane Callachan, Kimberly Sullivan and Christopher Sullivan. James was in the
National Guard for 6 years. He worked as a concrete finisher for over 30 years. He
was also a volunteer fire fighter in Medfield for over 30 years. James loved the
outdoors and all parts of nature, he especially loved planting his bountiful vegetable
garden each year. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, canoeing, hiking, stock car racing
and many more activities. He was a member of the Medfield Sportsman’s Club BOD for
many, many years. He loved his family and enjoyed the many visits and gatherings with
them. His favorite place to be was sitting on his front porch. He was liked by all who
knew him, and he always brought a smile to those around him. He will surely be
missed.
There will be no service per James’ wishes, a private celebration of James’ life will be
held with his family at a later date.
