Joan Capadanno

We are sad to announce the passing of Joan Capadanno on Friday, November 8, 2024.

She is survived by her dear friend and partner, Gretchen Meyers, of Malden, her sons James and his partner Fran, of Nashua NH, Steven and his wife Karen, of Tewksbury, John, of Washington State, and daughter Louise, of Malden. Joan is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Brad and Tracy, and 2 great grandchildren, Dominic and Brooke.

Joan graduated as an RN from Boston City Hospital School of Nursing. She later received a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Salem State College. For most of her career she worked at Boston City Hospital in the Maternity Department. She retired as Head Nurse of the Labor and Delivery floor in 1994. In subsequent years she worked as a visiting nurse at the Boston VNA.

Joan will be remembered as one who lived life on her own terms and at her own pace. Though a quiet and private person, she was a great, nonjudgmental listener and had a calming influence to all who spent time with her. She loved to spend time outdoors in her garden, walking the dogs, shoveling snow, raking leaves, and most of all reading.

No services will be held. We, individually, can remember Joan in our thoughts and hearts as the quiet,
honest and caring person she was.
