Joan Marie Wallingford

MALDEN – Joan Marie Wallingford, age 73, passed away on January 10,
2022 at home with her loving daughter, Mary by her side.

Born October 18, 1948 in Boston, MA to the late James and Mary
Gardner. Joan was the 4 th of five children, having all sisters.
After being raised in Boston, Joan resided in Portsmouth, NH, where she
met her late husband, Llewellyn Wallingford of 30 years. She later found
her way back to Massachusetts.

Joan was a dedicated mother and nana. She absolutely adored her
daughter, Mary and grandson, Tyriek. Family came first and was above
all else to her. She truly was the epitome of love and strength.
Joan lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. Family card
games, bingo, going to the casino and shopping brought her joy. She will
best be remembered for her pure heart, caring nature and generosity.
She was the definition of a great woman.

Through many years of health issues, Joan exemplified courage, grace
and strength beyond comprehension. There is comfort in believing she
is pain-free and taking deep breaths with loved-ones who have left this
earth before her.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Mendes and significant other,
Evens Maurice; grandson Tyriek Mendes all of Malden,MA; sisters Fran
Davis, Mary Thurston, Ruth Gray and Susan Mendes & husband Roy Sr.
Nieces and nephews include Philip, the late John, Fran, Tony, the late
Annemarie, Sandra, Debbie, Cathy, Steven, Joseph, Karen, Kevin, Roy Jr.,
Nikki and Kim; along with many friends and family too numerous to list
but not forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life and
gathering at Boston Cremation at 287 Main St. Malden MA on Thursday January 20th 9AM – 11AM.

Afterwards, please join the family for a gathering at the American Legion located at 75 Meridian Street Malden, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital,
a charity important to Joan.
