Jon Newell Provest


Jon Newell Provest, 80, passed away peacefully at the Stanley R. Tippett Hospice Home in Needham, MA on Saturday, August 4, 2018. He was born in August of 1937, to Norman and Lora Provest in South Weymouth, MA. In June of 1962 he married Barbara Huston in Newton, MA. They have resided in Framingham for 56 years. Jon was a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and was an accomplished and prolific artist. He was inspired by nature, which was the main focus of his many prints and paintings. He worked at Atkins & Merrill, The Museum of Science and the New England Aquarium. He served in the Marine Reserves.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; his two daughters, Jennifer Jagolinzer of Wayland, MA and Wendy Porter of Stoneham, MA, three grandchildren Caroline and John Porter, and Josie Jagolinzer; and sister Barbara Silcox of Chesterfield, MO (formerly of Wellesley, MA).

The family will hold a private funeral service at the Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham, MA. The scholarship will benefit students with artistic merit at Framingham High School, where Jon graduated from in 1955.
