Kevin Kanarek


Kevin Kanarek, literary scholar, editor and educator, died December 27th, 2024 in Northampton, Ma.    

Kevin was born September 7, 1963, in New York, N.Y., to Adam Kanarek, a New York Lawyer, and literary artist Pamela Moore. He is survived by his siblings brother Michael Yinhar and sister Nina Kanarek (Bindi), and cousins, Philip Visco and Diana Visco.   

As a SUNY Albany undergraduate holding a BA in English, and minor in French, and a MA from New York University in Interactive Telecommunications, Kevin was drawn to studying language and literature as a young adult. Working first in Paris as a translator early in his professional career, later gravitating towards Early Education as a Foreign Language Educator.

Most recently, Kevin became known in the literary world for his efforts in creating a legacy for his mother, famed author Pamela Moore and re-issuing her 1st novel, Chocolates for Breakfast. 

Kevin, once said, “There is a continued dialogue you can have with the dead, reading their writing or meeting people who knew them, seeing how their life reverberates after they’re gone.” 

Friends and family will remember him for his kindness, his love for the written word, his ability to help in times of need, his sense of humor, and importantly his love for his mother.
