Watertown, MA and Norwich VT – Lia James Madigan, 5 months, died in her
sleep on Thursday, September 13, 2018.
She was born at Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, NH
on April 17, 2018, the daughter of Maile Carter Madigan and Daniel James
Madigan.
Lia graced this earth with her big smile, even bigger cheeks, and sweet
giggle for just under 5 months. Although she was only with us for such a short
time, Lia worked her way deep into our hearts with her charming smile and
laughing eyes. She was the happiest, most easy-going baby ever, and much
loved by her family.
She is survived by her 2 ½ year old brother and best friend, Carter
Brooks Madigan; her loving parents, Maile and Dan, formerly of Santa Rosalia,
Mexico and Norwich VT; her grandparents Peter and Debbie Carter of Norwich;
and Patti Madigan Yates and Jim Yates of Hempstead, NY; as well as her five
aunts who loved her greatly. We will all deeply miss those chubby cheeks and
that beautiful smile.
Lia’s spirit lives on in her heart valves which were successfully
transplanted into an ailing infant’s heart. Although we grieve deeply for our
loss, we hope that another family will have joy and love in their child who has
been given a new chance at life.

A service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 4 pm at Camp Onaway,
Hebron, NH.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Lia’s honor may be made to the Lia James
Madigan Fund, established to support and try to make life a little easier for a
chronically ill child (50 Watertown St. #305, Watertown MA 02472).
