Linda Lee Owens
Linda Lee Owens, 79, of Boston, Massachusetts, died June 27, 2022.
Linda was born in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, August 5, 1942, to the late Wilbur
William and Mary Eloise Owens (McNaughton).
She was a proud graduate of Academy High School in Erie, Pennsylvania (1960). Linda
began her professional career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Doctor’s
Osteopathic Hospital, Erie, PA. Her whip-smart propensity for science and technology
followed her to New York where she worked as a CADD Specialist for LeCroy
Research Corp., and then to Chicago where she was CAD Systems Manager for the
City’s Department of Public Works – Architecture, and then as Senior Systems
Engineer with the Police Department, responsible for the Network Management
Center at the new 911 Communications Center.
Linda was an avid fine arts enthusiast, especially history, music and architecture. She
was a volunteer docent in Chicago at Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio and Ridge
Historical Society. She was a tenacious, striking woman who ironed all of her clothes.
Even in retirement her quest for knowledge and beauty was unstoppable; hundreds
of hours were spent embroidering flowers, making dollhouse furniture, and serving
the Back Bay as a Tour Leader at Trinity Church Boston and Boston By Foot. The
family is grateful for the excellent medical care of Dr. Elizabeth Kass and the
community of Morville House for their company and care, especially Adrienne Polk.
Linda was preceded in death by son, Eric Schlegel and devoted friend, Barry
DeVincke.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Hersperger (Chris Seidler) of Charlestown,
Rhode Island, Karen McKenna (Kevin),Erie, PA, Kristen Knost, Acworth, Georgia, and
Jessica Anne Chiang (Kurt), Chicago, Illinois. Five grandchildren; Krista (Mike),
Anthony (Aimee), Troy, Nicholas, and Alec (Daniel), and four great granddaughters;
Anna, Moira, Eloise, and Jillian. And brother, Bill Owens and niece Marcie of
Evansville, Indiana.
Funeral plans are private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morville
House, 100 Norway Street, Boston Ma. 02115 in care of the Ken Lawrence Fund for

Linda was my 1960 Academy Classmate. In 2003 or so, over a Thanksgiving, I was visiting the Boston area. We got together. Linda showed the Boston house where she was once a docent. It was a nice visit. My condolences to her family. Linda was a nice classmate and person.
