Michael John Buckley

Michael John Buckley of Malden, MA passed suddenly on January 16, 2018, after a tough brave battle with leukemia. He was “strong like bull” throughout. Michael was born in Boston and was a devoted son to his mother the late Hellen I Buckley (Gladyzak) and his father the late John (Fred) Buckley. He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth (Betty Ann) Robinson of Malden and his brother Stephen Buckley of Tewksbury. He is survived by his loved sister in law Diane Buckley of Tewksbury. Michael was a devoted father to his children Michael Buckley and his wife Denise (Culleton) Buckley of Peabody; his daughter Michelle Parsons and her husband Skip Parsons of Malden; and his daughter Melissa Buckley and Aldo DiIorio of Stoneham. He was a proud grandfather of William Parsons and his wife Stephanie of Melrose and Samantha Parsons of Malden; Nicolette, Alexandra, and Michael Buckley all of Peabody; Isabella and Neena DiIorio of Stoneham. He was also a great grandfather to Lincoln and Lydia Parsons of Melrose. Michael is survived by Patricia Sharkey of Winthrop, who was a loving devoted partner throughout the last 16 years. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and the mother of his children, Rosalie (Salerno) Buckley. Michael was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School and served in the United States Army. He was a proud Malden Firefighter for 37 years and retired from that profession in 2006. He also worked for Valley’s restaurants as the maintenance supervisor for many years. Special thanks and love go out to his many neighbors and devoted friends from the fire department who stood by him and were always up for a meet and cup of coffee with Mike. We would also like to thank the dedicated team at the MGH Yawkey. “Ow!” He will always be greatly missed and remembered as a hard worker, a generous man, and a loyal family member and friend. Memorial services will be private.
