Michele was born in Altavilla Irpina, Italy the second oldest son to the late Luigi and Ida (Camerlengo) Petrella.  A longtime resident of Mansfield, he was devoted to St. Mary Parish and volunteered as a collector for many years.  He was an extremely helpful resident within his senior community where he helped his fellow neighbors accomplish their chores and taking out their trash.

To say Michele loved movies would be an understatement!  He enjoyed going to theaters to watch movies on the big screen with Maria and her kids but also enjoyed movies at home.  Michele had breakfast at Cafe on the Common every morning as well as his daily trips to Dunkin Donuts. He would go out to eat with his family, driving around to yard sales and shopping as often as possible.  Michele was kind hearted and always happy to help anyone in any way he could.  All who had the pleasure of knowing Michele, will miss him dearly.

All are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, June 20, 2022 from 9:30am-10:30am at Boston Cremation, 115 North Main Street, Mansfield, MA 02048.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street, Mansfield, MA 02048 with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Michele’s memory may be made to: Our Daily Bread Mansfield’s Food Pantry, 15 West Street, Mansfield, MA 02048

The residents where he lived knew Michele, as Miguel. A kind, gentle and loving soul who has been my neighbor and my friend for over fifteen years. Always ready to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. carry groceries, rake leaves, shovel snow from their cars and much, much more. He loved to laugh and tell jokes. I will always remember his smile and his greeting “Hi G” everyday. I am honored and grateful to have known him. A light so bright and beautiful has gone from my life. God Bless You Miguel

My family and I lived 1 block down from you on Samoset Ave for 25 years. I saw Michele several times a week when I was driving and he was walking. He always looked happy and determined to get to his destination! May he rest in peace.

I would often run into Michele inside Dunkin when I picked up my morning coffee. He always shared a pleasant “good morning” greeting and sometimes small talk about the weather. Nice man. My condolences to his family and friends.

Miguel would tell me his traveling adventures, once he got hit by a vehicle on his way to the food Pantry, the most enjoyable was hearing about his journey to Italy by boat and the good food along the trip. I am sure he is in the great care of the Lord now.
