Nancy Bridges
Nancy Anne Bridges (July 31,1952-February 16,2022) was born in Framingham,
the 3rd of 5 siblings, and grew up in Hopkinton, MA. She was educated at Smith
College and the Smith School of Social Work. It was at her clinical placement in
Cambridge where she met her future husband, Bill.
Nancy liked to cook, eat (in moderation), be physically active, and travel.
Her first love was her family, but her second love was her work. Nancy was a
well respected psychotherapist/psychoanalyst and educator. She was known for
working empathically and emotionally close to her patients. Nancy was the
author of “Moving Beyond the Comfort Zone in Psychotherapy” which explored
issues of managing strong emotions and creating a safe space in the
psychotherapeutic relationship.
Nancy was also the mother of Ian and Gabriel, the mother in law of Abby and
Bia, and the grandmother of Katharine and Josephine Zinn.
We recommend a donation in memory of Nancy to Care Dimensions Hospice
who made it possible to keep Nancy at home through the many months of her
illness.
