1952-2020
Peter passed away peacefully on April 5,
2020 while in hospice. He was a loving son, father, sibling, uncle and great uncle. He is survived by his 3 children, 3 siblings, nieces, nephew and great nieces and nephews.
Peter’s greatest love was paddling on the Charles River for Dragon Boat. He received as much love and support as he gave to his friends and colleagues, fellow dragon boaters and especially the Wellness Warriors.
Thank you for all the heartfelt condolences and warm memories. It is so heartwarming to hear how loved and respected Peter was. All the stories and photos have been a great source of comfort to his family.
We will have a celebration of Peter’s life when we can meet with open arms and hugs and kisses.

I paddled with the State Street team for over a decade. During that time I got to know Peter. He was truly the heart and soul of the Dragon Boat Festival. It always brought a smile to my face each year on the first day of practice seeing Peter on the docks. My sympathy to his family. He was a good man who has left us too soon
Peter was immediately welcoming when I joined what is now the Wellness Warriors – back then I believe we were trying to come up with a great name. He gave me the gift of persistence- inspiring me and the others to stick with it, that we had the will and the strength to paddle the enormous boat. Back then, we always came in third (out of three teams) but we were always made to feel proud and strong. That was because of Peter.
Peter was my brother-in-law who was extremely considerate, smart and always willing to help out. He had great design skills which I always admired. He will be missed but I wish him most eternal peace and love.
Peter and I worked together for almost 40 years on the Dragon Boat Festival. Like all great friends, we had our spats, but we remained close. I will miss him like a brother. Condolences to the family and especially the kids.
Peter was my brother-in-law. His greatest legacies are his three amazing, loving and gifted children, James, Nicole and Robert!!! Despite the loss of their father, they remain strong and hopeful in that they too are giving of themselves to others. May Peter find peace as he did in Dragon Boat! May he find the love that he gave to his children and to others.
Our deepest sympathy on the passing of Peter. It was truly his passion for Dragon Boat Racing and his persistence that allowed our Gloria Gemma Team , Gloria’s Warriors to catch the “fever” of this amazing team sport. His love for all teams and desire to help will be deeply missed. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. #togetherstrong
I am so sad. I cannot imagine Boston dragon boating without him. I cannot imagine passing by the MIT boathouse or the Charles River in front of Harvard without seeing him there. The second week of every June I will come looking for you, Peter.

In honor and tribute to Peter, with whom I have shared my years in Boston since we both made this our home. All of you with the outpouring of joy and love at his passing have demonstrated how much he meant to us all – with his humor (very New York ), his artistry (architect), and his love of the water…and his quirky ways. We all knew what Peter loved and was loyal to more than anything – Dragonboat and his children. It was a good journey for the last 46 years with him here in New England with his friends and family in New York. Ours were of common roots – Toishanese, Asian-American, family.. the exciting times of our era, our sharing the heart and heartbeat of New York, and of the world, and of each of you – from Libby and Peter out there in the Chicago area to his family in New York and CT, to Leslie and Pancho, through his struggle with life, cancer, and his dreams; his Wellness team, the trips to Asia to just being able to volunteer for the Head of the Charles and for us to walk and talk about his dreams…and revel in the souvenirs of these experiences! Catch you shortly, Peter, to continue our conversations and yim cha; of eating our Kentucky fried chicken fried chicken and beers together. Peace is yours, so get another beer ready! Just hearing of this…I am devastated…Peter was an amazing guy….a client of mine almost 30 years….and kept my hand in dragon boats for years…as their. Retained boat hauler and transporter….will miss him terribly…
Just heard the news and very sad. We spent so much time together early in our careers and became life long friends. He was so proud of his children and talked about them to me since they were little. He was a grinder and a fighter in everything he did and i’ll miss having Bim together. I’m glad i called him a friend.
Peter was integral in getting dragon boat paddling to Burlington, Vermont. Without his generosity Dragonheart Vermont would not be the organization it is today. It took creativity, and a lot of faith in Linda and John Dyer, to transport the dragon boat across state lines on the very short bed! It is a story I love to hear because it speaks to Peter’s love of the sport, the giving person he was, and it is evidence of the joy he brought to so many. Dragonhearters always looked forward to the first race of the season held on the Charles! Peter’s smile and sense of humor was infectious. Our condolences to his family. He will be missed.
Peter was a true friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand. I will cherish our many years of working together. He will be sorely missed around the boathouse.

Today, the New York chapter of Peter’s endless amount of “Friends” will conduct a memorial at a luncheon in his home Chinatown of his youth. It is hard to believe that Peter left us over a year ago. Gone but never forgotten, our mission will be to “toast” and “roast” his life among us.
