Phoenix Rose Lewis

Phoenix R. Lewis

August 12th 2021 – August 15th 2022

Phoenix Rose Lewis, lovingly called Phe Phe, was one year old when she passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2022. She was living in Malden at the time with her loving father, mother, and older brother. Phoenix is survived by her father; Ronald J. Lewis II and mother; Janelle M. Cocuzzo, older brother Gunnar T. Cocuzzo, Great Grandmothers Ann Marie Nardella and Mary E. Lewis, Grandmother (Nonni) Dawn R. Brooks and Grandfather (affectionately nicknamed ‘old dada’) Ronald J. Lewis and Grandmother (Nana) Maryellen Cocuzzo and the late Grandfather (Papa) Thomas A. Cocuzzo II. Auntie Megan A. Lewis, Aunt Kori A. Lewis, Aunt Julia (ZiZi) R. Cocuzzo, Aunt Laura Lewis, Uncle Declan T. Brooks, Uncle Joseph A. Nardella, Uncle Tommy A. Cocuzzo III, and Uncle Mario D. Cocuzzo.

Phoenix was a deeply loved and cared for baby. She loved her dad and mom; always lighting up when either entered the room and then screaming when they left, only to be consoled when one of them would pick her up and make funny noises and kiss her face. She would giggle and laugh everytime her dad would pick her up and had the biggest smile a baby could manage in her mother’s arms. One of her favorite past times was pulling on her aunts’ earrings and necklaces (thanks, dad!) and looking at the world map that hung behind the couch. She loved her older brother and would follow him around and steal his alphabet letters which she would then chew on relentlessly. She loved Sesame Street and the Mickey Mouse clubhouse songs. Her favorite snacks were puffs and banana mini muffins. Once upon a time she tried some black beans and avocado, which she loved, but Nana did NOT appreciate the follow up (thanks Nonni!).

Our little girl is so loved, will be so missed, and will always be her daddy’s big tall baby. This is an impossible time, but Phoenix brought us all together and she will keep us this way. She was so packed with love and light that she can never truly be gone as she left a mark on each and every one of us. Phe Phe, we love you more than the universe is vast.

A Memorial service will be held Monday August 29, 2022 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Boston Cremation, 287 Main Street Malden MA 02148.
