Phyllis May Barrows, 95, of Lunenburg, Massachusetts died on March 24, 2022.
The daughter of Frank and Marie Kohlstrom, she was the fourth of their nine
children: Kay, Henry, Fred, Phyllis, John, Kenny, Rudy, Gloria and Bobby. She grew
up in a loving home on Bailey Rd. in Holden, MA. Phyllis graduated valedictorian
of her class from Holden High School in 1944. She also graduated from Becker
Junior College in 1946. She was employed as a secretary at Heald Machine
Company in Worcester and also at Foster Grant in Leominster. In 1946 she
married Joseph Abraham Barrows and together they built their home in
Lunenburg where they raised their 5 children: Michael, Robert, Russel, JoAnn and
Kelly. They celebrated 70 years of marriage prior to Joseph’s death in 2017.
Phyllis enjoyed road trips with her husband, camping, skiing, knitting, painting,
poetry, cake decorating and bird watching. Phyllis especially enjoyed watching her
children and grandchildren in their concerts and sporting events. Hosting family
and friends for the holidays gave both Phyllis and her husband great joy. She will
be remembered as a strong, independent woman with quick wit and a wonderful
sense of humor. She and Joe were very generous and always ready to help
anyone in need.

She is predeceased by her eldest son, Michael and her husband Joseph. She is
survived by her 4 children, daughter in laws, a son in law, grandchildren, great
grandchildren, her youngest brother, a sister-in-law, dear friends, and many
nieces and nephews.
She will be buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Leominster, MA. Contributions in her

    You guys should so proud of the excellent care you gave your Mom. I am sure you extended her quantity as well as quality of life. I hope you know how proud she is of you.
