Shannon Lee DeFreitas was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Shannon passed away on March 27th after a short battle with lung cancer with his family by his side. 

Shannon was born and raised in Oakland, Ca; to the late Fredrick DeFreitas Sr. and Faye Goodwyn. 

It was in California where he met and married the love of his life; the late Sharon DeFreitas, they spent nearly 50 years together before Sharon’s passing in 2023.

After their first child Brandy, and their marriage in the early 80s, they moved to East Boston and went on to have 2 more children, Matthew, and Justin. 

Shannon worked for the City of Boston as a correctional officer for 30+ years until his retirement. After his retirement he worked in South Boston as a security guard, and he also enjoyed working for MBTA’s “The Ride”. 

Shannon loved his wife tremendously and took great care of her during her battle with cancer and was by her side until the very end. 

Shannon took great pleasure in being a grandfather to his 5 grandchildren where he spent countless hours telling tales of his past and watching movies or just hanging out. Survived by his children Brandy, Matthew, and Justin. Along with his sister Debbie Little. And grandchildren Domenic, Quintin, Sophia, Bella, and Aiden.
