Susan K. Cole

It is with deep sorrow we let you know that our sweet Ma and Nana Susan Katherine Cole (Higgins) passed away this morning at home (9/14/21) after just returning from the hospital the day before. She leaves behind a very dedicated son David Cole, daughter Karen Cole, grand-daughter Alicia Kearney, sister Valerie Blake, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Peggy Higgins, sister-in-law Bev Weinberg and many many nephews and nieces that called her Auntie Sue or Susan. She was the sweetest Irish catholic girl we ever knew! David said she prayed right up until this morning. David and I were very lucky to have her as our Mother! We are sure that she is already an angel in heaven seeing her husband Richard Cole, sister Mary/Mickey Higgins, brother-in-law Buddy Blake, brother-in-laws Tom Cole and Billy Cole, sister-in-law’s sister Uta/Christine Blanco, mother Katherine Higgins and father William Higgins again.

She Loved people! Her favorite thing to do lately was going out to breakfast at Dempsey’s in Medford outdoors saying hi to people, doggies, watching people go by. Also, I think I will have to bronze her sunglasses I kept in my car in middle compartment that she would put on for rides in the sun and eating outdoors. Even when she didn’t have any teeth, having trouble with dentures, she had the best smile that lit up the room and melted everybody.

Love you and miss you so much already Ma!

    To All of Susan’s Family,
It is with much sadness that I write this condolence. Your Mom was a neighbor of my dear friend, Betty, in Medford (who also grew up in Somerville) and as a young girl, the Higgins family lived across the street from my family on Otis Street in Somerville and the Cole family lived in a small terrace off of Bonair Street. Both wonderful families. The last time we were together we sat at the same table at our SHS class reunion. Susan was so happy to be there and enjoyed the night, as we all did. She was the epitome of what a good person is.
I know her family will miss her dearly, but I have no doubt your Mom had a one way ticket straight to heaven, with no stops along the way and that your Dad was waiting to hold her in his arms once again. May she rest in the sweetest of piece and May God keep you all in his tender care
