Veronica Ciregna

Veronica Patricia Lester Ciregna, “Ronnie”, died peacefully on the morning of December 24, 2022 at the age of 91 in Stoneham, MA. Ronnie grew up in New Jersey and New York with her parents Peter and Nora Lester and younger sister Audrey Lester (m. Doeglas). She is survived by her beloved husband Serge Ciregna of nearly 64 years, her daughter Elise Ciregna and son-in-law Stephen LoPiccolo, daughter Colette Ciregna and son-in-law David Henderson, grandchildren Isabella and Miles Henderson, sister Audrey Doeglas, and many other extended family members both in the US and in Europe.

Ronnie spent many wonderful years living and raising her family in both New York and France with Serge. She knew Paris and relished both her daily market trips, as well as visits to museums, concerts and other events. Ronnie also loved the years she spent in Port Washington, New York on Long Island. She made lifelong friends wherever she lived. A voracious reader, avid museum goer, expert in classical music and opera, Ronnie’s joie de vivre was unparalleled. Her mad cooking skills, fabulous sense of humor, love of chocolate, wine and peanuts were well known.

As a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Veronica cared deeply about the people in her life and beyond – nature, politics, the art world, cats, and saving quality wrapping paper in order to reuse it (affectionately called the Save The Paper Federation by her children). And while Ronnie did not fear death, she lived life to its fullest for many years. Those who knew her will forever be grateful for the many ways in which she touched their lives.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at some time in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Edward Gorey House (for animal and cat welfare, the MSPCA or the museum).
