Wanda L. (Favaloro) Young

Wanda L. (Favaloro) Young, 67, beloved wife of Allen G. Young of Bennett St, Gloucester passed away Saturday January 7th, 2023 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, after a brief battle with cancer. Wanda was born in Gloucester on July 25th, 1955 to the late Serafino & Josie (Parisi) Favaloro.  She graduated from Gloucester High School in 1973.  She met the love of her life over 50 years ago but always joked they waited 17 years to marry “to get to know each other”.  Wanda & Allen worked together to establish their businesses “The Store” in Lanesville and later “The Truck”.  Last year she retired from AGH Physical Therapy Dept. to spend time with Allen.

Wanda had a strong independent spirit and prided herself on being a “pioneer woman”.  She was known to be honest and candid.  While her stature was petite, she was a fierce force when it came to protecting those she cared for.  Her love, generosity, and kindness had no limits.  She was an avid reader, excellent cook, and an amazing gardener whenever she wasn’t out helping others.  She especially enjoyed quiet times at the Cove with family and friends.  Her passion was animals, and she extremely missed her littlest love, Jack. Wanda will be greatly missed but will live on in all of us who had the honor of knowing and loving her.

In addition to her loving husband Allen, she is survived by siblings: Susan Orlando, Vito Favaloro, and Mary Favaloro O’Shea; siblings in-law: Kris & Rene Young. Her two “chosen children” Laura & Michael O’Shea and many wonderful nieces and nephews: Wendy Nasser, JoAnne Walor, Michelle Griffith, John Orlando Jr., Joseph Orlando, Todd & Arthur Ridenhour, Vito Favaloro Jr., Dylan & Wyatt Young, Niles O’Hanley as well as their families, many cousins, and lifelong friends.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by brothers-in-law John W. Orlando & Robert Young; sister-in-law Denise (Herrera) Favaloro, and in-laws “Jean” & “Bud” Young.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday Feb 4that Bass Rocks Golf Club, 34 Beach Rd, Gloucester 11am-2pm.  Family and friends are cordially invited to join us and share memories. Donations in her name can be made to parkinsonsfitness.org
