    Dear Barbara,
    I was so sorry to hear of Billy’s death. He was such a nice guy with a sharp sense of humor, a terrific wit and an interesting story teller. I had the privilege of commuting with him to work now and then, and he always spoke of you and Eric with so much love. He will be greatly missed.

    I am so incredibly incredibly sorry. Mr Gilman was one of the greatest men I have ever known. I can hear his laughter right now. He always had a kind word and a light hand for all of us guys who rattled around your place. Gilly let me know if I can do anything or if you want to talk. Love to you Ma Gilman, I am just really really sorry.

    Dear Barbie;

    So sorry to read of my friend’s death. I had the pleasure of living with Billy and my younger brother George at 245 Revere Street, Revere, Mass. 1962-1963. I also worked with Billy at the Nautical Bowling Ally during that period. He was one of the funniest & wittiest friends I will ever have. I will never forget him.

    Your School Mate, Class of 1961 R.H.S. Peace be with you and your family.

    Thanks to Bill for being my uncle, my big brother and for teaching me to play the guitar and sing all those raunchy songs when I was in high school.

    I am yet to meet anyone else who could find as much humor in just about everything. Mr. Gilman was funny and a great guy. I wish the best for Eric and Mrs. Gil. Mr. Gilman hand-made an incredible billboard-sided sign for Eric and I. It was truly awesome.
