Robert Lee Melcher, Jr.

November 18, 1957 – December 29, 2018

Robert L. Melcher, 61, of Stoneham passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 after a fierce battle with cancer. Bob or “Uncle Bobby,” was surrounded by his family and his loving wife, Julia Geehan-Melcher. Bob was born in East Boston to the late Connie (Maglio) Melcher and Robert L. Melcher, Sr. He grew up in Malden, MA and graduated from Malden High School. Bob worked as a recruiter for private technical schools and had a passion for building and fixing computers.

Bob was smart, stubborn, competitive, independent, and most importantly, had a huge heart. In his earlier years, Bob enjoyed skiing, riding, biking, and a love for cars, especially his Miata. During the past decade he lived in Stoneham, MA. Bob spent the happiest years of his life with his wife Julia. They enjoyed taking daily walks in the woods, and he loved to bake for her. Living in Stoneham Sr. Housing, Bob had the privilege of using his computer skills to help others whenever needed.

Bob was the beloved husband of Julia Geehan-Melcher. He was the loving stepfather of David McCular and his wife Emily of Saugus, and Heather Geehan of Lowell. He was the loving brother to his sisters, Donna Kady and her husband Robert of Stoneham, Alice Di Pietro and her husband Paul of Wakefield, Judi Allen and her husband Paul of Billerica, and his brother Kurt Melcher and his wife Gilda of Danvers. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Justin, Alyssa, Brittany, Meghan, Timothy, Sean, Derek, and Geena. In addition, Uncle Bobby is survived by grandnephews and grandnieces, Dylan, Tyler, Hadley, Madison, and Colton as well as many, many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

To honor Bob’s wishes, immediate family will have a private celebration of life.

The family asks that you remember Bobby in your prayers. Those who so desire may make a memorial donation in memory of Robert Melcher, Jr. to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading, MA.
