Ines Alvarez Castro, 84, of Franklin, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2019 with her family and her precious dog Rocky at her side. She was the beloved wife of the Herbert Sadtler.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Clara and Frank Castano of Franklin; Luz and Brian Matlin of Little Gaspirilla, FL; Liliana and Stephen Kendall of Torrington, CT; and her loving son Carlos and Nelly Hoyos of Miami, FL. She was pre-deceased by her adored son Harold Hoyos. She leaves behind her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Monica and her husband Marcus Collins and their daughter Amelia; Maritza and her husband Christian Lara and their children Sabrina, Karina, and Christopher; Mauricio Gutierrez and his children Michael, Zavian, and Korrine; Frank and his wife Erica Castano and their children Avery and Ava; Paola and her husband Josh Bauer and their children Taylor, Jacob, Andrea, and River; Diana and her husband Jordan Moore and their children Alexia, Ava, and Rocco; Camilo and his wife Nathalie Hoyos and their children Samantha, Matthew, and Zachary; Harold Castano Buciuc; Andrew Castano; Carlos and his wife Danae Hoyos and their children Dalia and Carlos; Leonard Kendall, Jeffrey Kendall, and Emilio Hoyos. She also leaves behind her loving siblings Miguel and his wife Blanca Alvarez, Ricardo and his wife Miriam Alvarez, and Edelmira Castaneda. She was preceded in death by her dear parents, Esteban and Ester Alvarez as well as her siblings, Hector Alvarez, Enelia Alvarez, Alfonso Alvarez, and Luis Alvarez. She was also predeceased by her ex-husband Alvaro Hoyos Ochoa. She also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews that she loved deeply.

Ines was born in 1934 in Cali, Colombia and immigrated to the US in 1978. She traveled the country and lived in the extreme opposites of Fairbanks, Alaska and Miami, FL before settling with family in New England. She loved to receive family and whether she was playing video games with her grandkids, playing chess on Sundays, dancing the night away or cooking up a feast, she was always the life of the party. She left this earth on her own accord, at her own time and fought hard until the very end. We will all sorely miss her, her wittiness and vivacious personality.

Ines’s life will be celebrated in a private ceremony for family at a later date. Family and friends near and far are asked to direct their condolences or share a memory below.
