Allen Goodman (1931-2023)
Allen Goodman, age 91, of Dedham, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on October 29, 2023. He was born in Boston, MA on November 12, 1931, to the late Paul and Sophie Goodman. Allen will be deeply missed by his wife of 61 years, Rona, his two children, Mark and Robin Goodman, his daughter-in-law, Melinda Stone, his niece, Hannah Feldman, his two grandchildren, Miriam and Mina Goodman, and his two grand dogs, Bernie and Bailey.
Allen was born to be a lawyer and he died as a lawyer. He worked hard to create his own successful law firm because he never was someone who wanted to work for others. Allen’s passion for horses led him to participate in the Inauguration parade of John F. Kennedy as part of the prestigious horse club, The Massachusetts Lancers, representing Massachusetts, JFK’s home state.
Beyond his professional achievements, Allen was known for his kind and accepting nature. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and his genuine care for others resonated with everyone who knew him. Allen approached every aspect of his life with unwavering dedication, whether it was skiing, playing tennis, or exploring the world through his travels.
Allen retired early from his law firm when he was 51 and worked as a consultant, This gave him more time to focus on what was most important to him, the relationships with the people he loved. His relationships with his family deepened and grew over a lifetime. He had a challenging time expressing his feelings and his heart but learned to do so later in life. He never stopped growing.
Allen loved the ocean and would spend much time during his later years with his wife down by the shore. It was a way he connected to the spiritual aspects of life.
Allen’s death occurred exactly as he desired – peacefully and at home, surrounded by love.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Allen’s memory to the Hospice Program at Hebrew Senior Life.:
