Carl Van Smith Jr.

It is with great sadness that the family of Carl Van Smith Jr. (“Carly”) announces his passing, on Friday, March 13, 2020, at the age of 47 years. Carl will be lovingly remembered by his parents Carl V. Smith and Nancy E. Smith (Thibert) from Malden Ma.
Carl will also be fondly remembered by his four siblings, Brian (wife Georgia Smith), Stephen Smith, Crystal Smith and Heather Smith. Carl had 11 neices and nephews all to which he adored and treated as his own children.
Carl was predeceased by his grandparents: Herbert and Velia Smith (Minervini), Henry Thibert and Mary (Musto); Warren Squires.
A native of Malden, Ma, Carl gained skills in machinery, auto mechanics, welding; Carl then went onto graduate a course he took very seriously and loved in culinary arts, he excelled immensely.
Carl spent many years working as a machinist, welder, mechanic and a sous chef. A few of his passions / hobbies were working on cars, art, baseball, cooking, music and karate.
Everyone who knew him felt extremely safe around him, that is a trait he will forever be remembered for. Carl had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He would help a family member or friend out if needed without hesitation, a genuine person like Carl is rare and he will forever be missed. He was one of a kind, with a heart of gold that touched many lives with his generosity and passion for life.

Due to the pandemic of the coronavirus we cannot grieve and have closure as we need, there will be a “celebration of life” of some sort when its safe to do so. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in his name to the Bread Of Life in Malden Massachusetts; there he donated his time to cook & serve the less fortunate.
