Debra Glidden (1957-2023)


Debra J Glidden, age 65,  of Lynn MA passed away on September 15, 2023. She was born on September 18, 1957 in Wolfeboro, NH to the late Edgar, Glidden and Mary Cashman (Perkins)

Debra lead a remarkable life filled with passion and accomplishment. She attended Kingswood regional high school in Wolfeboro New Hampshire. She had a passion for writing and journalism and pursued her dreams by studying journalism at Syracuse University. Throughout her career she authored numerous freelance publications and was a well-known and respected staff reporter for The Daily Item in Lynn, MA from 1999 to 2011 when she retired. Her dedication and intellect made her an exceptional journalist. She commanded respect as a reporter for her fairness, objectivity, and balanced reporting. Her keen ability to see the many facets of things was a remarkable and intrinsic trait that served her well, both professionally and personally.

Debra most cherished her role as a grandmother. Her grandchildren brought immeasurable joy and love to her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Debra‘s pride and unconditional love for her grandchildren was always evident whether she was engaged in a conversation with her grandchildren themselves, or as many can attest bursting with excitement as she shared their latest accomplishments, she made it known that her world revolves around them.

Debra will be remembered for her exceptional intellect, kindness, love of gardening and the ocean as well as her unwavering support for the Boston Bruins and the Red Sox. Her chocolate chip cookies and fudge were the undisputed best.

Debra is survived by her loving daughters, Cynthia, Britton, and Christina Arlukiewicz, her six grandchildren. Her sisters, Lisa Glidden, and Bonnie Glidden and her mother Mary Cashman and stepfather Joseph Cashman. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary Perkins, and her beloved father Edgar Glidden.

A Memorial Service to honor Debra‘s life will be held at Boston Cremation located at 287 Main St. in Malden, MA on October 9 from 10 AM to 12 PM.

This will be an opportunity for family, friends, and loved ones to gather and celebrate the life and memory of a woman who touched the lives of many.

Debra Glidden will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Her legacy and love will live on in the hearts and memories of those she leaves behind.
