NORTH READING: Eileen M. Verney, 68, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 26, 2017 with her family at her side. Eileen was born in Boston, the loving daughter of Walter and Alice Verney. She graduated high school from the Industrial School for Crippled Children in 1966 and studied computer applications at Arlington Technical Institute, graduating in 1969. She was a computer program analyst working at Avco, Textron Industries and Putnam Investments until her retirement in 2010.

She had a lifelong love of music and a voice that brought joy to all who had the privilege to hear her. She enjoyed singing, most recently with the Ipswich River Community Chorus; attending live musical and theatrical performances; crafting; travel; and spending time with her family and friends most of all. She loved life and lived it to the fullest with a special grace and dignity, touching countless lives along the way.

She is survived by her siblings Walter C. (Elaine) of Foley, AL; Russell J. (Gayle) of Noblesville, IN; Edward A. (Rose) of Amherst, NH; Thomas F. (Susan) of North Reading, MA; Alison C. Standring (Jeffrey) of Fredericksburg, VA; and Lawrence J. (Rita) of Franklin, MA; 14 nieces and nephews, 13 grand -nieces and -nephews, three great-grand nephews, her uncle Alva A., Jr. (Jackie) Brown of Bourne, MA, and numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter C. and Alice E. (Brown), sisters Patricia T. and Elizabeth A., her nephew Anthony Dirienzo, her great-grand niece Katherine Reardon and great-grand nephew Nicholas Reardon.

The family invites you to attend a celebration of Eileen’s life on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading, MA and a reception following the mass at The Lakeside Inn, 595 North Ave., Wakefield, MA. Burial will be private.
