Francis (Frank) T. Walsh, Corporal USMC (Retired) of Westwood, passed peacefully on September 1, 2023, at BID-Needham (Glover Memorial Hospital) in Needham at the age of 91.

Frank was born and raised in Dorchester MA, the oldest of 4 children of Peter and Mary Wash, originally from Newfoundland. 

Frank met his wife Mary Lou McGrail (deceased) while attending CYO dance at St. Kevin’s Parish in the Upham Corner neighborhood of Boston.   They married in 1952, settled in Needham MA in 1956 where they raised 5 children. Their eldest son Brian (deceased) and wife Cindy (deceased), Daughter Donna Shaw and husband Bradley (deceased) of Norfolk.  Son Mark and wife Cathy of Norfolk. Son Paul and wife Stephanie of Norfolk and daughter Nancy and husband Jed Toohey of Medway.  Frank was a loving grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Additional family includes Frank’s brother James (deceased) and his wife Rose along with Regina and her husband Tom (deceased) and Gerald and his wife Sandy. Along with many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Frank had a very successful sales career, first in the Life Insurance industry and then going on to represent the Will & Baumer Candle Company throughout New England.  He retired from the John G Shelley Company of Wellesley, MA.

Frank and Mary Lou relocated to Ormond Beach, FL, and were avid travelers in their motor home who loved spending time visiting National Parks and historic sites across the United States. Wishing to be closer to family to enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren, Frank and Mary Lou returned home to Massachusetts settling in Westwood. 

A memorial mass will be held at Saint Margaret Mary Church 845 High Street Westwood, MA on September 15, at 10:30 AM.
