James “Jim” Edward Boyce February 20, 1950 – February 2, 2024
Passing, I leave thee lilac with heart-shaped leaves,I leave thee there in the door-yard, blooming, returning with spring.
James (Jim) Edward Boyce, 73, of Malden, Mass, died suddenly, February 2, 2024.
Jim was a graduate of Malden High School. He attended Mount Wachusett Community College and Umass Boston receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in History. Later, he continued his education receiving a Masters Degree in Education. Jim also served in the U S Army based in Fort Devens assigned to the Military Police and also as a Paratrooper.
Jim spent most of his career in Loss Prevention in the Retail sector. He also had bartended, managed a rental program in Killington Vermont, and held a Librarian position at a local school.
Jim loved the outdoors, especially camping in the mountains with his family. He enjoyed reading and was especially interested in Civil War History. His favorite poem was “When Lilacs last in the dooryard Bloom’d” by Walt Whitman.
Jim is survived by brothers, Jack Boyce(Stewart Landers)of East Boston, MA and Steven Boyce(Annette)of Manchester, New Hampshire, his sister, Michelle (Boyce) Tuttavilla (Michael )of Lynn, Ma and Sister-in-law Cheryl Volpe-Boyce of Winter Haven, Florida. Also, dear friend, Susan Avallone of Gardner, Mass. Jim also leaves his nieces, Rachael (Boyce) Manfra (Derek) and grand niece Julie Manfra and Lisa Boyce all of Manchester NH; Laura (Boyce) Dreimiller (John) of Ballston Spa, NY and nephew Charles Michael Smith of Lynn, MA. He was predeceased by his Father, Charles F. Boyce Jr., Mother, Anne (Nelson) Boyce, and sister Linda A. Boyce.
There are no calling hours. The family will gather to fulfill Jim’s last wishes at a future date.
Boston Cremation, 287 Main St, Malden, Ma is in charge of arrangements.

Jim was a special guy and if you knew him, you were one of the lucky ones. He was quiet and reserved, but if he had something to say, he said it. May you always test in peace, Jim, and enjoy the fragrance of your lilacs.
An Enrollment in Prayer

is today enrolled in the
League of Saint Anthony
with an ongoing remembrance in the Masses and in the daily prayers
offered by the seminarians and Capuchin friars at
Saint Lawrence Seminary.
