James Sorrenti (1939-2024)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James J. “Nicky” Sorrenti, who departed this world on January 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 21, 1939, Nicky lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to his family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and joy.

Nicky is survived by his daughters Ann and husband Steve May of Taunton, Susan and John Kent of Brockton, Gail Crowley of Taunton, and son James J. Sorrenti Jr. of Carver. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of immense joy and pride, and he lived his life with a purpose centered around their happiness and well-being.

A man of many talents, Nicky had a passion for music that resonated throughout his life. In his earlier years, he showcased his skills in auto body repair and as a mechanic, demonstrating not only technical prowess but also a keen sense of humor that endeared him to those around him.

Born and raised in Boston, Nicky found love and companionship with Ann (Canavan) Sorrenti. Together, they raised their five children in Stoughton before eventually making a home on Cape Cod. He is predeceased by his wife Ann, and his daughter Joanne of Falmouth whom he cherished dearly.

Throughout his life, Nicky was honored with endearing titles such as Dad, Papa, “the Legend,” and the Godfather. Generous, smart, funny, and family-oriented, he made a lasting impact on the many lives he touched. Nicky’s absence will be deeply felt, but the memories of his love and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A burial service is scheduled on April 2nd at 10AM at Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West St. Braintree Mass.  A celebration of life for James “Papa” will take place on April 6th at 1PM at the home of Ann and Steve May in Taunton.  All friends and family are invited to join in commemorating the life of this remarkable individual.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his family find solace in the cherished moments shared with James J. “Nicky” Sorrenti. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to www.kittyangels.org.
