Joseph Sarro on December 12, 2013. A decorated veteran of the US Army who served for 18 months in the European Theatre during WWII. After the war he began his career at the Boston Public Library. He worked at the BPL for 52 years, retiring in 2005 as Superintendent of Library Building. Joe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary (Avolio) his son Richard of Las Vegas, Nevada, and his daughter Jeanne Maguire, son-in-law Mark Maguire and granddaughter Amelia Maguire of Groton. He was 91 years old.
