Lorraine Ward


Stoneham, MA – Lorraine Janet (Duffy) Ward, 68, passed away peacefully Monday, June 20 at Sawtelle Family Hospice House after a short battle with cancer.  Beloved widow of Peter Ward. Cherished Mother of Peter James “PJ” Ward (and wife Kellie) of Charlestown, Patrick D. Ward (and wife Erica) of Danvers and Jonathan K. Ward of Stoneham. Grandmother to Aiden, Tyler, Abigail, Alice and Peter. She is survived by her siblings Maureen, Kathleen, Joseph (Dennis), James, Margaret, Joyce, & Tricia and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brother John, and her parents James and Margaret Mary “Rita” Duffy.

Lorraine was a longtime career nurse for the City of Cambridge and a devoted grandmother in her retirement. She had many interests, including traveling, politics, courtroom television, and everything Boston. She was a thoughtful gift giver and loved nothing more than spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren.     

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves memories that no one can steal.

In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Inst., Div. of Development & the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Pl. West, 6th FL, Brookline, MA 02445-9924.  A memorial service will be held in her memory at a later date.

    To PJ, Patrick & Jonathan.
    I am deeply sorry for the loss of your mother. She was a wonderful person and a good friend and neighbor for over thirty years. I will miss her. I will keep her and all of you in my prayers.
