Madeline “Dollie” Long (1935-2023)
Madeline “Dollie” Long, also known as Dollie Hurley, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023 at the age of 88. Born on May 27, 1935 in Winthrop, she was a resident of Chelmsford, MA for the past six years. Dollie lived a remarkable life filled with resilience and unwavering determination.Dollie, lovingly known as GG, Dodo, Nana, Mom was a force of nature! She approached life on her own terms, facing challenges with courage and tenacity. Even in her later years, she fought her battle with cancer, refusing to let it define her spirit. Dollie’s unwavering strength and determination serve as an inspiration to all who knew her.Madeline was the daughter of the late Frederick Hurley and Anna C Hurley (Devito). The Hurley family was known throughout Revere for their thriving businesses on Revere Beach! Her passing is the end of an era!She was the widow of Joseph Long, her loving husband. She leaves behind her daughter Nancie Long-Manning and her husband John Manning of Westford MA, son Robert Long and wife Jane of Coventry RI. and daughter Devorah Long-Hodson and her husband Andrew Hodson of Haverhill MA. In addition she leaves behind three grandchildren, Cassandra Long- Newton and her husband Bobby, Victoria Simmons and her husband Michael and John Manning Jr, and 3 great grandchildren, Biancca Long, William Simmons and Charlotte Simmons.Her family was her pride and joy!A private service will be held for the immediate family to honor Dollie’s memory. The details of the ceremony will remain within the close-knit family circle as they bid their final farewell to this extraordinary woman. Madeline leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of resilience. She was an avid reader, loved history and travel. Always living life to the fullest!Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her loved ones. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of her heavenly journey. She had a great love of children!
