Marion R. Joncas


Marion R. Joncas passed away at her home in Lawrence, MA on the 8th of August 2022 surrounded by her 6 children.  Her cause of death was cancer.  She was 87 years young.

Marion was born on the 10th of April 1935 in Lawrence, MA, daughter of Henry McAvoy (deceased) and Marion McAvoy (McManus) (deceased).  Her husband of 45 years Norman L. Joncas (deceased). He passed on their 45th wedding anniversary. She attended school in Lawrence.  Graduated from St. Mary’s high school in Lawrence, MA.  She loved traveling with her beloved husband, Foxwoods, and enjoyed special times with her loving family.  She was a member of many charitable organizations, neighborhood watch, bowling team.

She was employed by Arlington Trust Bank as a banker in Lawrence, MA, Table Talk Pie Company as a secretary in Lawrence, MA, and Internal Revenue Service with multiple jobs and Collections in Andover, MA.

Marion had 3 siblings, Henry McAvoy (deceased) and Marilyn of Clearwater, FL, Francis Choury (deceased) and John of Seabrook, NH, and Walter McAvoy (deceased) and Linda McAvoy (deceased) of Salem, NH.

Marion has 6 children, Norman Joncas Jr. of Lawrence, MA, Donna Hannagan and Chad  of Sandown, NH, Lynne Quealey and Jeff of Peoria, AZ, Ruth Stickney and William of Haverhill, MA, Caroline Martell and Corey  of Haverhill, MA, Joseph Joncas and Susan of Londonderry, NH.

Marion has 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews

We will forever remember her beautiful smile and her witty sense of humor. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was the most selfless person.

The family will have a celebration of life on Thursday, September 1st at St. Patrick’s Parish in Lawrence, MA at 11:00am, followed by the burial at St. Mary’s cemetery in Lawrence, MA.  There will be an invitation only mercy meal at Castleton Banquet and Conference Center 58 Enterprise Dr. Windham, NH.

    I was Marion hairstylist for years. I will forever remember Marion’s smile and her kindness and of course her Stubbornness also .. I looked forward to seeing her, I will miss her always. Rest In Peace Marion , you were a great lady!❤️❤️

    To the Joncas family. We are extremely sorry for the loss of your mom. She was an incredible woman with a wonderful heart. Unfortunately, time itself is the only healer during these times.
