MARTHA J. McLAUGHLIN

In Loving Memory of

MARTHA J. McLAUGHLIN

February 22, 1932 – March 30, 2020

After a courageous battle with cancer, Martha J. McLaughlin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children. Martha was born in Boston on February 22, 1932 and went on to marry the late John McLaughlin and they had 4 children; the late John Jr. “Jack”, son Timothy and two daughters, Dee and Val. She loved her family; her two sisters, the late Louise and Doris, sister-in-law, the late Ellie as well as her Brother, Sonny and her sister-in-law Renee’. Her grandchildren as well as her great grandchildren held a special place in her heart as did her many nieces and nephews. She loved her friends dearly and they knew it. She loved shopping a good bargain, playing cards, drinking Diet Pepsi and a good Chuck Norris movie. She loved people and so her career at Melrose Wakefield Hospital was never a job. It was never work, but a good place to share kindness and compassion that came so easily from her. She shared a great love for God and of walking with her faithful dog Bunny.

A celebration of Martha’s life will be hosted by family and friends when we can meet together again due to these unprecedented times we live in. Until then please send your condolences and share memories to the Boston Cremation on-line guest book.

In lieu of donations, Martha has asked that you give a smile to someone you see.

Martha, You were such a great person. I am blessed to have so many special memories of you. I remember one of the first times I shared a meal with you and the family. All was quiet, except for the humming, you were all quietly humming as you enjoyed the meal. I remember how much you all loved to scare each other. I was convinced someone was going to have a heart attack! You laughed and told me to lighten up! You raised some wonderful kids, and they and their families, as well as friends, will miss you sorely. I take solace in that you are no longer struggling and we have one more angel in Heaven. Till we meet again. Love you, Christine

What a great tribute!! I love the Chuck Norris movies, that is hysterical!
Martha eminated love and kindness whereever she went. I remember being in The hospital once when i was young and seeing her fly by on the end of a cart of some kind leaving joy and laughter in her wake. That told me all i needed to know about what a light she was at work.
I am so grateful to have been in regular contact with her over these past couple of years….she was another mother to me growing up…and she made me feel as special now as she did when I was a baby…
Her courage, strength and ability to love amazed me…
    Sending love always…

Martha, “Nonnie”, I feel privileged to have been called friend by you.
All our years working together and all the years after that have left me with wonderful memories.
Over these last months of visiting with you through your illness, you showed the same love and strength that you always did. Your faith in God never wavered.
You fought the good fight, you endured to the end.
    I will never forget you.

Dear Mom, Although it has only been just about three months, I miss you more and more everyday. I feel your love and presence around me a lot and still expect you to come walking thru my door any minute. I miss our trips to Kohl’s and Shaws but mostly miss hanging with you and being able to talk to you about anything and you always had the best advise. Nobody can make spaghetti and sauce like you or anything for that matter. You always had a very special way of loving, encouraging, and caring for all People. The world would be a much better place if We all would emulate you! I love you!!! To the moon and back again. You are a perfect girl!!! Forever in my heart!!!!

Auntie Martha will be missed by all who knew her. She was such a sweet soul and always threw in a laugh no matter what to pick up any conversation. She didn’t dwell on being sick, instead tried focusing on the positives! She was one hard working woman that you felt would live on forever. I’m glad I was able to spend time visiting with her and talking about everything❤️ She will be so missed but now with those gone before her, especially her beloved Jack! XO

I’ve been thinking of your Mom so much as the one year anniversary of her passing approaches soon because the world isn’t the same with out her kindness, love and laughter.
She finished the race and her suffering has ceased so for that we rejoice. I am a better person for knowing her and cherish the memories and conversations we shared.
