Marvin Maxey (1946-2023)
Marvin R. Maxey, 76, of Malden, MA, passed away on September 11, 2023, in Boston, MA. He was born on December 12, 1946, in Detroit, MI. Marvin was a kind, generous, and loving individual who took pride in his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.
Marvin is survived by his loving partner of 38 years, Diana Hogan, his daughters Cynthia Trent and her husband Anthony, Crystal Maxey, Dawn Brooks, and stepson Thomas Hogan and wife Julieann. He is also survived by his sister Althea Strahan and her husband Ray, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marvin was preceded in death by his mother, Kathrine Murray, father Rollin Maxey, sister Cindy Moret, and great-granddaughter Phoenix Rose Lewis.
Marvin proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. His dedication and commitment to his military service were commendable.
Throughout his career, Marvin worked as a contract carpenter, showcasing his skills and craftsmanship. His attention to detail was unmatched, and he took great pride in his work. Marvin also worked at AMES Envelope in Somerville, MA for many years.
In his free time, Marvin enjoyed various hobbies, including photography, traveling, gardening, and woodworking. He found joy and fulfillment in capturing moments through his lens, exploring new places, nurturing his garden, and creating beautiful woodworking pieces.
Services for Marvin R. Maxey will be held at Boston Cremation located at 287 Main St, Malden, MA 02148, on September 28, 2023, from 10 am to noon. The compassionate staff at Boston Cremation will be assisting with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St.Jude Children’s Hospital.
Marvin will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
