Ralph D. Wynn (1950-2023)

Ralph D. Wynn, 73, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023 after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was born on August 18, 1950, in Sawyerville, AL to the late Andrew & Ada (Mosley) Wynn and moved to Boston as a young boy.

Ralph received his Master of Education degree from Antioch College. He worked as a Case Manager for Medicaid for over 20 years and in 2015 retired from Charlestown Mass Health. Ralph was affectionately known as “King Ralph” and “Ralphy” to family and close friends. His family and friends were incredibly important to him and he loved spending time with them. Morals and values were really important to Ralph and he was often sought out for his advice and counsel. You could often find him grooving and relaxing to smooth jazz in his man-cave or backyard. He was an avid Boston sports fan and loved to talk about the developments within the current sports season. Ralph loved to make frequent trips to Home Depot and then get to work at home on new projects. He also enjoyed spending time with his children’s family dogs Lucas, Lola and Zoe.

Ralph was predeceased by his older brother Andrew “AC” Wynn and younger sister Katricia Wynn. He is survived by the love of his life and wife Beta Batista-Wynn; from oldest to youngest their children Al Wint (and his significant other Lori Walmsley), Dianique “Nikki” Brooks and Tamra “Tami” Holland (and her husband Lance Holland); his grandchildren Jade Wint, Darien Brooks and Michael Holland; his older sister Bennette Wynn (and her significant other Mickey Lotson); nephew Reginald Wynn and nieces Fernita Wynn and Andrea Brodeur; his mother-in-law Agnes Hunter as well as a host of family that he loved dearly here in the states and extended family through his wife Beta in Panama, and Cuba. Ralph was very loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors! We extend our sincerest gratitude and thanks to the team of nurses, doctors and specialists who cared for and treated Ralph over the years.

A memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 21 st at Boston Cremation, 287 Main St in Malden, MA from 10am – 12pm. In lieu of flowers and gifts please consider a donation to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168

Condolences to the Wynn family. I had the pleasure of meeting this man during my teenage years. As I became an adult, later in life. I was able to reconnect with him and his wife and they always showed me love and welcomed me with open arms. He will be missed.

My condolences to the Wynn family. I worked with Ralph at the Grove Hall welfare office. He was always a constant source of support, funny stories, and just an overall coolness that is unmatched. I will miss Ralph, but have comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering with this awful disease. May his spirit live on through his family. There will never be another Ralph Wynn! He was one of a kind and I am thankful God saw fit for our paths to cross!

Just a month ago, we celebrated your birthday. Today, my heart is heavy, for you will be sorely missed. To our family: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.” Isaiah 43:1-2
    With sincere sympathies and prayers.
    Love, Linda M. Cooper
